Meet Head Coach Pete Laforest

As a native of Montreal, Pete attended a boarding school in his formative years and it changed his life. With the support of his coaches, talent and grit, Pete reached levels most athletes can only aspire to reach. In 2003, Laforest made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays and went on to a career with the Expos, Padres and Phillies. He also represented team Canada in the Olympics and World Baseball Classic.

Following his 16-year professional career, Pete went on to manage professionally where he led his team to the CanAM league championship. Since his professional career, Coach Laforest has dedicated his life to helping student-athletes reach their potential.

Mentorship Throughout the School Day

During morning classes Carrie De Fransico leads all-subject tutoring while students take accredited home-school and in-person, teacher led, coursework. As the day continues, NCAA track standout Max Schoerner guides strength and conditioning with speed and agility coach Tyler Freeman. Coach Freeman’s dual-sport (Football/Track) experience serves the training balance. Power, speed, and stamina blend for complete physical development.

Then it’s time for baseball. A former minor leaguer with the Chicago White Sox organization, Fernando Gallegos leads player development. Fernando began training players after his minor league career ended. For 10-years he’s mentored and trained baseball players. Coach Gallegos will lead a Trosky Phased approach to skill building, implementation of programs, and drive the Trosky Way each day. Players reach their ceiling – a mix of instruction, challenging reps and the mental game throughout.

Trosky Academy Pasadena raises the bar with a start-of-the-art classroom, expansive workout area, and versatile baseball facilities. Located inside Pasadena’s best gym, a climate-controlled classroom creates the optimal learning environment. Baseball amenities include a turf area, cages, machines and more. Trosky Academy turns imagination into reality with state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, academic learning spaces, and fun team-building spots.

A Family Adventure

Navigating the baseball road can seem daunting. We simplify it. Each Tuesday night the community comes together virtually. Students and parents have the option to learn together. With topics like nutrition, recruiting, mental skills, and performance, there are resources to inform and motivate. They also create great conversations at home. If you can’t make the live events, each is recorded and accessible. Expect over 60 baseball and life-skills virtual events from August 2025 to August 2026.

One-Stop Academic and Baseball Training.

In partnership with the FitSport Accelerator, Trosky Academy Pasadena provides flexible learning, tutoring, and performance training for students in grades 4–12. Sessions run from Monday to Thursday with academic support, strength training, and education classes.
